Summary

The name of the action “Carrying Hopes” was born because the communities that live in high altitudes are mostly focused on livestock and/or tourism jobs, mostly porters. Porters are people who carry tourists' luggage on their backs, exposing their lives to the point that 1 in 3 deaths on Everest are porters.

We delivered the donations personally, traveling to Nepal and the city of Yuracmayo (Peru) because we wanted to learn more about the communities from the people who distributed the donations. The experience for my husband and I was extremely enriching, from planning with our allies to being able to see the smiles when we deliver the donations.

We are very grateful to the donors because they made this possible. Also, thanks to our allies, 8K and Zenda, companies that promote mountaineering responsibly.

At Preservando we firmly believe that even the smallest actions have an impact. With "Porteando Esperanzas" not only clothing was reused to reduce the environmental impact, but also communities that often, due to their distance, do not receive support to improve their quality of life.
